Third from the sun: Nuclear war is imminent, and scientist William Sturka, his family and a sympathetic test pilot plan to commandeer and experimental spaceship and flee to a distant, populated planet. But their risky flight is jeopardized by a ruthless government agent who never lets them out of his sight.
The shelter: Fear can bring out the worst in people, as Dr. William Stockton discovers when he locks himself and his family in their basement shelter after news reports of a coming invasion. Although the shelter can support only three people, Stockton's desperate neighbors are determined to enter--by any means necessary.
To serve man: The world cheers when an advanced alien procedes a fleet of spaceships to Earth, claiming that he has come to serve man. As government cryptographers work feverishly to decipher a book the alien brought to Earth, thousands of people board flying saucers to visit the alien's homeworld--for a very special reception.
The fugitive: Jenny Lewis, a crippled young girl, has a new friend, an old man named Ben who can assume any form. But now Jenny has more serious problems than convincing her mother Ben really exists. Two men are looking for her friend, and to force him to come out of hiding they've made Jenny ill--so weak that she'll soon die without his help.
